South Carolina Residents To Save Money On Groceries Beginning Tomorrow
Throughout the past few legislative sessions, much debate focused on the issue of taxes. As your state senator, I want to make absolutely sure that you, as a taxpayer, will be able to take home more of the money that you work so hard for. Whether it is the small business tax cut, property-tax relief or the income-tax relief, it is my number one priority to make sure that the tax burden that you incur is low.
Just this past year, we made further strides to reduce the amount of taxes that you pay. Beginning on November 1, the state portion of sales tax on unprepared foods, or groceries, will be totally eliminated. While some in Columbia did not want this tax cut to become law, I fought very hard to ensure that this tax relief became permanent.
The elimination of the state sales tax on groceries was a necessity, because it is absolutely unfair to tax you and me on an item that we must have each and every day of our life.
With the November 1st elimination of the state portion of sales tax on groceries, all hard-working South Carolina families will see immediate savings.
Once again, if I can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
