I see more black tourist vacationing at the South Carolina beaches now than I have ever seen before, and I am glad they enjoy vacationing here. I think the issue of the confederate flag is overated by the NAACP. The flag is a part of this state's history. SC was a leader in the secesion from the Union and starting the Confederacy, for a lot of reasons that our some of our forefathers deemed strong enough to take such action. Whether you agree with their actions or not, SC did secede from the Union and become a confederate state. The confederate flag was the flag of the Confederacy and it therefore a part of our state's history. I agree with Govenor Sanford, we have more important things to do than continue to debate the flag issue. If the NAACP wants to continue it's boycott, so be it. However, our elected represenatives have more important issues on which to spend their time.
