Senator John Courson

MEET JOHN COURSON

John Courson and wife Elizabeth reside in Columbia. They have three children, James, Elizabeth and Harris. Sen. Courson is currently the Senior Vice-President of Keenan & Suggs.

Courson was elected to Senate in 1984. He now serves as Chairman of the Education Committee. His mentor was the late Sen. Strom Thurmond, who was a strong advocate for education and served as a public school teacher and a superintendent. Courson is committed to advancing the work of the legendary U.S. Senator through his work in the State Senate. Courson also serves on the Banking and Insurance, Ethics, Finance, and Medical Affairs Committees.

Sen. Courson is most proud of his service to our nation in the United States Marine Corps.
