Senate Republicans Welcome Newest Member

COLUMBIA, SC - Upon receiving the results of the special election for the open seat in S.C. Senate District 25, Majority Leader Harvey Peeler (R-14) issued his congratulations to the newest member of the Senate Republican Caucus, Shane Massey of Edgefield. Massey’s win signifies more than just one candidate’s victory over another. It marks a historic occasion, as he becomes the first Republican to represent this Senate district.

“As Senate Republicans, we have been rewarded by Shane’s hard work on the campaign trail,” said Senator Peeler. “From the outset, he was committed to getting the job done. His dedication and perseverance won a Senate seat that many people thought would be in the hands of Democrats for years. That speaks volumes about his character, intellect, and work ethic, and I couldn’t be more excited to have him join us.”

Senator Peeler continued, “Shane’s addition to the Senate will undoubtedly strengthen our conservative base and help promote the values of Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick, and Saluda Counties, as well as the rest of South Carolina. Even though he will be the youngest member of our Caucus, we expect Shane to make a considerable contribution to the Senate next session, and for many more years to come.”

Senator-elect Massey is a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School, Clemson University, and the USC School of Law. He works as an attorney in Aiken, while living in Edgefield with his wife, Blair.
