This Week’s Hot Meetings

H.3396 (Constitutional Amendment on General Fund Revenue): Wednesday, January 13, 9:30 am | Gressette 209 | Judiciary Subcommittee

Important Bills On The Calendar

10th Amendment Resolution: On special order. Being used by Senator Hutto to block numerous other bills currently on the calendar.

Point of Sale: On special order. We cannot get to it until we pass the 10th Amendment resolution.

Fees, Fines, Penalties Bill: Senator Davis’ bill stops state agencies, departments, or other entities from raising fees, fines, or penalties without the approval of the General Assembly. It’s currently being blocked by the Democrats.

24-Hour Waiting Period: This bill makes women wait 24 hours before terminating the life of an unborn child. It too is being blocked by the Democrats with a minority report.

Anti-Card Check: Secures South Carolina’s strong right-to-work status, which helped bring Boeing to our state, by guaranteeing that workers have the right to a secret ballot when voting on whether or not to unionize. It’s being blocked by the Democrats.

Voter ID: It’s nearly unbelievable, but you can currently vote for our government leaders without having to show you’re ID. This bill requires the presentation of an ID when voting, which will obviously deter voter fraud in South Carolina. Big surprise… it’s being blocked by the Democrats.
